Day 6 - Best of Four: Lion Grove Garden (Wednesday, May 25th, 2011)

Although I don't remember reading about this in the guidebook I purchased before the trip or anywhere else for that matter, Lion Grove Garden was, in my opinion, the best in Suzhou.  The garden's namesake comes from the massive groves of sculpted rocks (see above) that make up most of the landscape, with most of the formations (I couldn't see it) taking the shape of various lions

and which make for some great semi-hiking opportunities.

Other than getting briefly separated from the group in the mass of rocks, flora, buildings and Asian tourists that made up Lion Grove Garden, the experience was definitely top notch. If you have time to see only one garden in Suzhou, then this (not the Clumsy Administrator one) is it.
